The Silver Willow is Virgil Mandanici's 2nd guitar build. Normally, when people would hear something like this, they would shy away from it, with the first thought being "Oh, it probably doesn't have the quality, being his second build". This would be a false assumption if you investigated into this story a little more. In August 2010, Virgil set out to make the famous "Dueling Dragons" guitar build that took nearly a year to complete (Click here to watch the documentary). Every step of the way was thoroughly researched by Virgil to attempt the impossible. Virgil also surrounded himself around other builders during this journey to tap into their experience as well. People also fall into the thought of "Well, it's just a piece of art". This thought is true to some extent, however, Virgil's main goal from the beginning was to make guitars that would be dead-on accurate, easy to play, built to last and have incredible tone. He has thus far exceeded his own expectations in all of these areas, but most importantly, the seasoned players that have tried these guitars are willing to stake their reputation on this as well. Watching the videos helps explain the journeys Virgil has travelled over the past 2 years. Virgil spent 3.5 months on the design, build, inlay & tweaking of the Silver Willow and is currently working on guitars #3 &4. Virgil has spent the last 35 years playing guitars, and repairing and modifying his own guitars as well. The Silver Willow will meet or exceed any expectations you could have for a guitar and will also be an investment over time.
